Diverse Charter Schools Coalition Welcomes Hynes Charter School

Chief Executive Officer Michelle Douglas announced that Hynes Charter School has been accepted into the Diverse Charter Schools Coalition, a network of 57 charters dedicated to inclusive and excellent public education. “We are very excited about this membership as the organization’s mission is to support the creation and expansion of charters that embody diversity across race, socioeconomic, language and learning abilities of our community’s children,” said CEO Douglas.

The Diverse Charter Schools Coalition connects members with each other and with outside resources to help improve their embrace of diversity while serving as a beacon and resource for other school leaders interested in creating integrated charter schools.

The organization supports research and analysis on the impact of diversity on the academic and social outcomes of charter students and students attending similarly diverse schools across the nation, while providing supports to increase demographic diversity in public schools.

Hynes is the highest demand, non-selective admissions elementary school in Orleans Parish.  Hynes is a consistently high-performing, open admissions, A-rated school. The Louisiana Department of Education recognized Hynes as a “Top Gains” School and it was named to the state’s “Excellence Honor Roll” for early childhood education.  Hynes remains accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Hynes operates two elementary schools; Hynes Charter Schools-Lakeview and Hynes Charter School-UNO.
