BENJAMIN FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL “BREAKS GROUND” FOR IMPROVEMENTS
THANKS TO GRANTS FROM BREES FOUNDATION AND NFL
The Benjamin Franklin High School Falcons will start the 2018-2019 academic school year with significant and much-needed improvements to the athletics facilities thanks to the generosity of the Brees Foundation, the NFL,and others.
Dr. Patrick Widhalm, Franklin’s Head of School, will host Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints owners Gayle Benson, and Saints executives for a ceremonial ground breaking (2001 Leon C Simon Dr, New Orleans, LA 70122) on Wednesday, May 30th at 4 p.m.
“We are thrilled to be able to begin Phase 1A of our facilities masterplan. With funding in place, current locker rooms will be renovated and modernized, and the “temporary” support building on the field will be replaced by a brand new concession stand, press box, and restrooms building. Future enhancements will include field improvements and the installation of lights for night games,” says Dr. Widhalm. “I guess it is not often that you see the Saints supporting the Falcons, that is the Franklin Falcons!”
Franklin has consistently ranked as the top academic school in the state of Louisiana, recently named as the 28th best charter school in the country by the U.S. News & World Report. The renovation will bring the sports complex to a level commensurate with Franklin’s outstanding academic programs.
