Hynes Charter Schools will hold Open House Tours for parents and guardians of prospective students on Thursdays on the following dates: November 7, November 21, December 5 and January 16 at 8:30am at 990 Harrison Avenue in the gym of its Lakeview Campus.

The Open Houses will be for both Hynes Charter School campuses, Hynes Charter School-Lakeview and Hynes Charter School-UNO.  Hynes Charter School-Lakeview serves students in Gifted PK and Kindergarten through 8thgrade.  For the school year 2020-21, Hynes Charter School-UNO will serve students in Kindergarten through 1stgrade, adding a grade each year until K-8. Parents and guardians of prospective students are invited to attend and learn more about Hynes, tour the school and meet staff. Participants can register on-site on the day of the tours and must bring an ID.  Admittance will be exclusively through the gym doors, located near the corner of French Street and Orleans Avenue.Hynes Charter School is the highest demand, non-selective admissions elementary school in Orleans Parish.  It is an “A” rated school and “Top Gains Honoree” for student progress and has a SACS/CASI accreditation.

Hynes offers a challenging academic curriculum that includes a progressive literacy program; gifted and talented courses; a partnership with UNO-Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education; classes in art, instrumental music, vocal music, library, theater and physical education. Art and social-emotional learning are integrated throughout the curriculum.  In addition, Hynes offers a French Immersion program. Hynes is proud of the collaborative culture that it fosters with distributed leadership and shared decision-making.
