International School of Louisiana (ISL) Awarded LabelFrancÉducation Seal During Visit by French Consul General
Last week, the French Consul General visited the International School of Louisiana (ISL) to award the school with the official LabelFrancÉducation Seal. LabelFrancÉducation is a seal of quality to schools providing outstanding bilingual education in French as part of their curriculum.
“It is an honor to be one of the select LabelFrancÉducation schools in Louisiana and the U.S.,” said CEO/Head of School- Melanie Tennyson. “This award is a significant achievement for our French program and I commend the hard work of our teachers and staff.”
This award is given by an inter-ministerial advisory committee composed of representatives from the French Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), the French Institute (IF) and Mission Laïque Française, a non-profit organization. ISL will join a network of 8 schools in Louisiana and 46 in the US.
LabelFrancEducation will also provide ISL with access to free French language curricular materials and information that will benefit the French program.

Dedicated to cultural diversity and global awareness, ISL (grades K-8) is the only multi-language immersion school chartered by the State of Louisiana. From their first day of school, students are taught core academic subjects in either French or Spanish. At ISL, children learn a second language naturally, through everyday conversation and classroom instruction. Committed to breaking down barriers in public education by teaching children to embrace diversity in their community, ISL is dedicated to providing all of its students with a unique and high-quality education and to helping young people develop, not only as students but also as community leaders and global citizens.
