International School of Louisiana students to perform at Chinese New Year Block Party Feb. 25

 

International School of Louisiana’s (ISL) students will be performing at Xavier University’s Chinese New Year Block Party on Sunday, February 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

in celebration of the Year of the Dog in the Chinese Lunar calendar. The block party will take place on 18th Street in Metairie, LA 70002.
 
The theme of this party is Culture, Education, and Economic Development. Xavier University Confucius Institute, winner of the 2016 worldwide “Confucius Institute of the Year Award”, and the Metairie Business Develop District will co-host this event. This family and kid friendly event features popular entertainment such as Beijing Opera, Chinese lion dance, and Chinese traditional music performances. Local restaurants will provide delicious Asian cuisine.
International School of Louisiana Middle School students will be performing a Chinese Song and Dance led by Ms. Lan Wei (ISL’s Chinese Teacher). Guests and media are welcomed to visit the ISL booth, meet their Chinese teachers, learn about their Mandarin program, and enjoy face painting, paper cutting, bookmark-marking, and other fun activities.
