New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School “Sci High” Students Premier New Film at Luna Fête

#SciHighWorks film students and Projection Mapping club premiere brand new short film.  New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School “Sci High” #SciHighWorks film/digital media students are partnering with Sci High’s Projection Mapping Club to premiere a brand new short film installation at Luna Fête December 12-15, 6-10 p.m. at 543 S. Peters St.Luna Fête takes place in Lafayette Square and along Lafayette and Fulton streets, with video mapping projected onto Gallier Hall, while other light activations take place along the streets. The festival is free and open to the public, and has nightly projections every hour on the hour.The new #SciHighWorks film titled “Empathy” is a story about the commonality of opposing sides happening every day in inner city classrooms. The film was made by Sci High students Tiana James, Jasmine Bethely, Gabriell Jackson and Noel Celestine.   Sci High Makerspace teacher Joris Lindhout  and Digital Media Teacher and #SciHighWorks Lead E’Jaaz Mason guided the students throughout the process.“Each and everyday students and teachers in public schools around the U.S. face obstacles in and out of the classroom,” said Mason.  “This film addresses the commonality of students and teachers in the classroom that neither sometimes realize.”This year, Sci High’s film program took home the 2019 LA Film Prize Jr. Award for Best Film and $8000 prize money for their short film “Like A Ship Without a Sail.” The film was directed by Da’Jana Florent, and featured students from Sci High.            

“We are so proud of the #SciHighWorks program and the amazing, creative and award-winning work they do,” said Sci High CEO Dr. Monique Cola.  “This film is an inspiring work created by students and we are thrilled it will be showing at Luna Fête.”
