Carla Bringier-Mason is one of only nine finalists statewide—and the only one from metro New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS, LA — Hynes Charter School–Lakeview proudly announces that 6th grade math teacher Carla Bringier-Mason has been named a finalist for Louisiana Teacher of the Year by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE).
Bringier-Mason is one of only nine finalists selected statewide, and the only representative from the greater New Orleans area. The finalists represent top educators across elementary, middle, and high schools in Louisiana.

Each year, school systems across the state nominate outstanding educators for the LDOE’s Teacher and Principal of the Year programs, which are hosted in partnership with Dream Teachers and the Louisiana Association of Principals. These programs honor Louisiana educators who demonstrate exceptional leadership, instructional excellence, and dedication to student growth.
“Carla is a passionate and dynamic educator who brings both rigor and heart into her classroom every day,” said Hynes CEO Dr. Michelle Douglas. “She not only challenges her students to excel academically, but also builds the kind of trust and confidence that transforms lives. We are incredibly proud to have her represent Hynes and our region at the state level.”
All state-level Teacher and Principal of the Year honorees will be celebrated at the 19th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala, to be held at the National WWII Museum on the evening of July 26, 2025.
