WHAT:Young Audiences Charter Schools will host a series of Black History Month events honoring African American heritage and cultural contributions. Celebrations will include student-led performances, showcases, and programs across all three Westbank campuses.

WHEN/WHERE: Young Audiences Middle School (YAMS) Black History Month Program
When: Wednesday, February 25th – 12:00pm, 1:00pm, and 2:00pm (45 min sessions)
Where: 1000 Burmaster St, Gretna, LA 70053
YAMS will host its 2026 Black History Month Celebration, Black History: Past, Present, and Future, featuring student performances in music, dance, spoken word, and art with a special appearance by Malik Rahim, who will announce the Big Dreams Contest winners. The experience also includes an interactive historical exhibit entitled “The Colored Museum.”
Young Audiences Charter High School at Burmaster Black History Month Program
When: Friday, February 27th – 8:30am and 1:30pm (1 hr sessions)
Where: 1000 Burmaster St, Gretna, LA 70053Young Audiences Charter High School students in grades 9 – 12 will celebrate Black History Month with a program entitled An Ode to New Orleans featuring all High School Arts Disciplines: Visual Arts, Strings, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Dance, and Visual Arts
Young Audiences Charter Lower School at Kate Middleton Black History Month Program
When: Friday, February 27th 9:30 & 1:30 (1 hr sessions)

YACS at Kate Middleton presents A Seat at the Table, an original stage production celebrating family, heritage, and the cultural legacy of New Orleans.Through music, dance, and theater, the story weaves together Adinkra symbolism, Civil Rights history, and the spirit of icons like Jackie Robinson and Louis Armstrong to honor the power of identity and belonging.
