Hynes Charter Schools Achieve Extraordinary Growth and Excellence Across All Campuses

Date: December 2nd, 2024

New Orleans, LA (November 20, 2024) – Hynes Charter Schools  are celebrating extraordinary achievements following the release of the 2024 School Performance Scores (SPS) by the Louisiana Department of Education. Demonstrating remarkable progress and sustained excellence, all three campuses have set new benchmarks in academic performance, solidifying Hynes as a leader in education, innovation, and student success, said Hynes Charter Network Chief Executive Officer Dr. Michelle Douglas.

“We are thrilled by the remarkable progress our three schools have achieved on state performance metrics,” said CEO Douglas. “The growth and expansion we’ve experienced over the past five years is a testament to the strength of our innovative model, which continues to set a high standard for excellence. Hynes is more than a network of schools—it’s a thriving community where students are empowered to excel and reach their fullest potential in an environment that celebrates unique and transformative learning.”

2024 SPS Highlights:

●      Hynes-Lakeview: Maintaining its “A” rating for an unprecedented 13th year, Hynes-Lakeview increased its overall SPS by 2.1 points. The campus was also named a Top Gains Honoree for achieving an “A” in the Progress Index.

●      Hynes-Parkview: In just three years under the Hynes Charter Network, Hynes-Parkview has experienced a dramatic transformation, increasing its SPS by 5.6 points and climbing two letter grades. The campus has doubled its SPS score during this period, earning an “A” growth indicator and improving across all performance metrics.

●      Hynes-UNO: With an 8.5-point SPS increase, Hynes-UNO continues to outperform the Orleans and Louisiana elementary school averages. Notable highlights include a 44.9-point increase in the Interests and Opportunities Index, 63% growth among English Learners, and substantial progress in the economically disadvantaged and Black student subgroups.

In addition to these achievements, Hynes Charter Schools were recently recognized as a Cognia® System of Distinction. This prestigious honor, awarded to only 60 schools worldwide, underscores Hynes’ dedication to fostering academic excellence, innovation, and global citizenship, said CEO Douglas.

“This achievement is a direct result of the hard work, dedication, and unwavering support of our teachers, staff, and families,” said Dr. Douglas. “It exemplifies the relentless pursuit of quality education at Hynes.”

Hynes Charter Schools have been a cornerstone of quality education for over 70 years. The network includes Hynes-Lakeview (PK3 – 8), Hynes-UNO (K-5 – growing each year to K-8), and Hynes-Parkview (K-8).  Hynes-Lakeview and Hynes-UNO also offer state-accredited, World Language Certified French immersion programs, further enriching the diverse educational experiences available to students.

As the Hynes Charter Network continues to grow, the focus remains on maintaining its exemplary record while building opportunities for every student to succeed. “For over seven decades, Hynes has been synonymous with academic excellence,” said Dr. Douglas. “Our 2024 results prove we continue to deliver on our promise to provide an exceptional education for all students in our care.”
