Video: Senior players surprise favorite teachers by presenting them with game jerseys
GRETNA, LA – The Young Audiences Charter School (YACS) football team is heading into its final game of the season undefeated — a remarkable achievement for a team only in its third year of competition.
The Young Audiences Charging Yaks will take on Patrick Taylor Science & Technology Academy Friday, November 7 at 3:00 PM at Young Audiences Charter School, 1000 Burmaster Street in Gretna.
While not yet eligible for postseason play due to the LHSAA’s three-year participation requirement for new teams, the Yaks’ perfect record has already made history and inspired pride throughout the school community.
Earlier this week in YACS tradition, senior players surprised teachers by presenting them with their game jerseys as a thank-you for their positive impact. The emotional moment captured the spirit of YACS — where academics, arts, athletics, and appreciation go hand in hand. Teachers were brought to tears as students shared how much their support had meant throughout high school.
Videos of jersey presentations can be viewed here.
“This is about more than football — it’s about family,” said Dennis Christopher, head coach of the Young Audiences Charging Yaks. “Our players have worked hard in the classroom and on the field, and this season reflects the heart and unity of our school.”
