Ben Franklin Students Celebrate Earth Day Virtually

In honor of the 50 years of environmental activism inspired by the first Earth Day, Benjamin Franklin High School seniors Rangasri “Sri” Narayanamoorthy ’20 and Ella Stolier ’20, along with Benjamin Verlander ’21, had worked tirelessly to plan an event that would bring students and state and local leaders together to discuss some of the biggest environmental issues facing Southeast Louisiana. They organized a team of student leaders and engaged Franklin’s Green Society in planning the event.   BFHS students wanted to make sure that their leaders were listening to their concerns about Louisiana’s next 50 years.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and like so many other big events this year, the event was canceled. The environmental issues Sri and her peers are concerned about haven’t gone away, however, and in many cases, the stakes are even higher. 

Undaunted, Sri set up an interview with State Rep.
