Young Audiences Charter Schools to Officially Name New Adella Gautier Campus

New Terrytown campus honors celebrated New Orleans artist and educator while expanding YACS’ high-performing, arts-integrated model on the Westbank WHAT: Young Audiences Charter Schools (YACS) will celebrate the official naming of its new Adella Gautier Campus, marking a major expansion of the high-performing, arts-integrated charter school network in Jefferson Parish.The campus is named in honor of the late Adella Gautier, the beloved New Orleans actor, storyteller, and arts educator known as “Adella Adella the Storyteller.” Gautier dedicated more than five decades to the performing arts and inspiring generations through storytelling and creative expression. Her legacy is a natural fit for YACS’ arts-integrated model, where visual arts, music, dance, and theater are woven into students’ academic experience.The newly acquired campus currently educates students in grades PK–6, while YACS at Burmaster serves grades 7–12. The modern campus includes a performance stage, expansive outdoor areas, and a 90,000-square-foot indoor turf and basketball complex.The event will feature student performances including choir, band, dance, and Jazz Band, as well as student Media/Graphics Design, Culinary Arts, and Visual Arts. There will be a campus naming ceremony and tours of the new arts and athletic facilities. Adella Gautier’s daughters, Judge Tiffany Gautier Chase and Amber Zu-Johnson, will attend and speak at the event.
