Two MJCS seniors earn prestigious IB Diplomas; 30 additional graduates earn IB CertificatesMorris Jeff Community School, a high-performing, open-admissions PK–12 public charter school in Orleans Parish, recently honored its 2025 International Baccalaureate (IB) and Certificate recipients during a ceremony held in early January. Two members of the Class of 2025 earned the highly selective, internationally recognized IB Diploma, while 30 additional graduates earned one or more IB Certificates. Morris Jeff is the only school in Louisiana authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer IB programming from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Official IB Diploma results are released annually in July.“These students have worked incredibly hard throughout this rigorous two-year program to achieve these honors,” said MJCS Principal Patricia Perkins. Earning an IB Diploma or certificate is a major academic accomplishment recognized worldwide. These students are prepared to think critically, lead with purpose, and impact positive change in the world.”The following students earned the IB Diploma in addition to a Louisiana high school diploma: Emily Fonseca, currently attending the University of the South and majoring in geology; and Ella Sparks, currently attending Southeastern University and majoring in psychology. The following 2025 graduates earned one or more IB Certificates: James Anglim, Becket Ashton, Heidy Chanchavac, Jasmine Chiles, Andres Cristancho Ramirez, Terri Daigle, Zion Daniels, Hunter Faust, Luther Flagge, Leonardo Foster, Elijah Garside, China Harris, Isaiah Jordan, Brandon Lamotte, Caleb Lewis, Faith Macdonald, Hope Macdonald, Akela McLean, Ari Montano, Oscar Patrick, Nolan Rosenfeld, Brittany Sierra, Byron Spriggs, Zoey Stevenson, William Stroud, Miles Verlane, Emerita Villeda Bautista, Mose Wolfe, Tristan Yates, and Damian Young.IB Certificates often translate into college credit at colleges and universities across the United States. To earn the IB Diploma, students must successfully complete coursework across multiple subject areas, including a world language; write a 4,000-word independent research paper; and complete Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) requirements.
