Audubon Charter School Hosts French Pen Pals
from Orleans, France through February 16
French immersion school welcomes twenty-two 8th graders
from sister-school Saint Charles Middle as part of exchange program
WHAT: As part of its accredited French immersion program, Audubon Charter School is hosting 22 French 8th grade pen-pals from its sister school in Orleans, France. Saint Charles Middle School became Audubon’s sister school in 2018, the year New Orleans became the sister city of Orleans, France. Introduced by the French Consulate, this is the third time Audubon has organized an in-person exchange. During Covid, the field trips were ongoing but virtual. On May 15, Audubon French immersion students will be going to Orleans for a reciprocal visit. The French students will join Audubon students on many activities including a tour of Laura Plantation, field trip to Turtle Cove, beignets and French Quarter treasure hunt/tour, Preservation Hall performance, Monde Creole Tour in French and a ride on the Steamboat Natchez.
WHEN: Tuesday, February 14, 8am – 7:30pm*
French students regular school day 8am-2pm
French students meet in library 2:05 pm
Student potluck and school performances 6-7:30 pm
