Audubon Schools Hosts Visages de la Francophonie Photo Exhibit and Door Decorating Contest for Francophone Month
Photos by Audoin de Vergnette are portraits of people in Louisiana with a French speaking heritage; door decorating contest honors French speaking countries
WHAT: Audubon School Uptown’s French immersion program is hosting the Visages de la Francophonie Photo Exhibit and Door Decorating Contest in celebration of Francophone Month. The photo exhibit features portraits by Audoin de Vergnette, showcasing people in Louisiana with French-speaking heritage, including speakers of French and Louisiana Creole, members of the Creole, Cajun, and Indigenous communities, as well as Francophones from other countries and French learners. The exhibit highlights individuals who actively contribute to keeping the French language alive in their daily lives.
In addition to the photo exhibit, Audubon’s Francophone Door Decorating Contest involves teachers from both the Montessori and French programs decorating their doors with the flags and fun facts about French-speaking countries. This initiative aims to promote awareness and appreciation of French-speaking cultures and heritage
