New statewide Discovery Fusion Health Sciences Academy virtual school opening 2024

Discovery Schools, a high-performing, open-enrollment, charter school network, is accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year beginning October 10, announced Chief Executive Officer Patty Glaser. Discovery Schools currently operates two schools in Jefferson Parish and one in Baton Rouge, serving over 3,000 students in grades PK-12. Students are invited to apply to one of the Discovery Schools listed below:

●  Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy accepting Pre-K* through 12 grade applicants who live in Jefferson Parish

●  Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy accepting Pre-K* through 8th grade applicants who live in Jefferson Parish

●  Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy accepting Pre-K* through 5th grade applicants who live in Louisiana

●  THE NEW Discovery Fusion Health Sciences Academy, a hybrid virtual school  opening in 2024 accepting applicants for Grades 5 through 8 who live in Louisiana

“Discovery Schools is growing and we are thrilled to be able to offer the benefit of a quality Discovery education to any student in the state,” said Discovery Schools CEO Patty Glaser. “With the addition of the new Discovery Fusion Health Sciences Academy students also have the option of a hybrid virtual school.  Exciting things are happening at Discovery Schools!”

For Fall 2024, the new Discovery Fusion Health Sciences Academy, will open serving Louisiana students in grades 5th through 8th in a hybrid virtual learning model. Students at Discovery Fusion are able to access course materials and resources at their own pace, promoting independent learning skills, and providing flexibility for those with different learning styles or schedules. 

The deadline to apply for the 2024-25 school year is Friday, February 2, 2024, at noon. Parents can submit an application online at www.discoveryapplication.com. Discovery lotteries for the 2024-25 school year will take place in March of 2024. A computer-generated, random lottery is run to determine who is offered a seat at all Discovery schools. If a spot becomes available, students will be selected from the waitlist, and parents will be notified and informed of the next steps.

Discovery Schools are open-enrollment, tuition-free public charter schools in Louisiana serving diverse learners in Kindergarten through 12th grade.
