In 2008, NASSP founded the National Elementary Schools Honors Society in partnership with the National Elementary School Principals Foundation.  Membership in the National Elementary Honors Society requires strict adherence to the highest standards of academic excellence. In August, 2023, Sherwood Forest Elementary School applied for Charter Chapter Membership and was accepted. Sherwood Forest Elementary School is now Orleans Parish’s third National Elementary Honors Society School.

“Our charter network is dedicated to providing exceptional opportunities for students in the New Orleans East Community. It is an honor to continue to serve as a change agent for revitalizing the New Orleans East neighborhoods we service,”  said Einstein Charter Schools CEO Tara Johnson.

“There is a diverse group of learners in New Orleans East. We have students who are growing and learning, and we have students who excel beyond what’s expected, and those children deserve to be honored and celebrated” said Vida Thompson, NEHS Advisor for Sherwood Forest Elementary School.
