Benjamin Franklin High School’s Baseball Program Awarded $2,750 in Grant Funding From Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation & Globe Life

NEW ORLEANS (October 3, 2023) – The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Globe Life presented 21 nonprofit organizations across Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma – including Benjamin Franklin High School – with a total of $125,000 in grants during pre-game ceremonies at the Rangers-A’s game earlier this month.

“The Globe Life Baseball and Softball Grant Program has impacted countless communities across our five-state viewing territory for the last 12 years, and it continues to grow as we received a record number of proposals in 2023,” said Karin Morris, senior vice president of community impact and executive director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.“We are incredibly thankful our partnership with Globe Life allowed us to fulfill 21 grant requests this year, bringing our all-time total contributions to over $975,000 in grants, furthering our mission to grow the games of baseball and softball.”

BFHS was honored to receive $2,750 from the program, which will be used for field rentals and baseball equipment, including infield screens, baseballs, batting helmets, and pitching rubber.

“The Spring 2023 Franklin Falcons baseball season was one of the best in our school’s history,” said Alea Cot, the president of the BFHS governing board. “Our varsity players were district champions, with a perfect winning record in district games. Six varsity players were selected for the All-District team. Isaac Jabaley ’23 was honored as the district’s Most Valuable Player. Our respected coach, Mr. Wally Scott, was honored as District Coach of the Year. And, reflecting the depth and breadth of BFHS talent, five players were chosen for the All-Academic Class baseball team. These five student-athletes had grade point averages ranging from 3.62 to 3.97. Our students manage a challenging workload of academics and extracurriculars, and they excel!”
