Hynes-UNO Will Welcome Students to Cutting-Edge $28M Campus in the Fall, Enrollment Open for 2024-25 School Year

(NEW ORLEANS, LA, January 9, 2024) – Hynes-UNO is now enrolling students for the 2024-25 school year, which will be located at its new campus, at 1901 Leon C. Simon Dr. on UNO’s campus.  The state-of-the-art facility, set to be completed ahead of schedule this summer, will eventually house over 900 students, marking a new era in Hynes education. Prospective students are encouraged to enroll now through January 19 at http://www.hynesschool.com .

Hynes Charter Schools CEO Dr. Michelle Douglas expressed the community’s enthusiasm, stating, “The Hynes community is thrilled to begin the next school year at the new, state-of-the-art Hynes-UNO campus. Our students can thrive and learn within the framework of a Hynes education in this cutting-edge environment.”

Hynes-UNO opened for the 2019-20 school year, replicating the Hynes Charter Schools curriculum, core values, and foundation. Hynes-UNO currently serves grades K-4th grades, eventually growing to a full K-8th grade school.

Constructed by Lemoine Construction with design by Grace Hebert Curtis Architects, the new campus is a testament to Hynes-UNO’s commitment to fostering a well-rounded, core curriculum with a science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) focus. The school also offers a French immersion program.

The interiors of the campus, inspired by Hynes’ focus on STEAM, create an engaging setting for discovery and development. Positioned between academic powerhouses Ben Franklin High School and the University of New Orleans, the new Hynes-UNO campus sets the stage for 900+ students to thrive.

The three Hynes campuses recently achieved significant performance and growth in the 2023 School Performance Scores (SPS), reinforcing their commitment to academic excellence. Hynes-UNO has been renewed due to its strong performance with the 2nd highest Percentage of Mastery in LEAP assessments and the 3rd highest Assessment Index for Orleans Parish open enrollment schools. Dr. Douglas stated, “At Hynes, the relentless pursuit of a quality education is always the goal. This campus will create an environment where our students will be eager to come to school and learn, and we can’t wait to be there!”

Hynes Charter Schools, including Hynes-Lakeview and Hynes-Parkview campuses, are known for their high demand and non-selective admissions, contributing to the educational landscape in Orleans Parish.

The Hynes-UNO partnership is made possible through cooperation from UNO, NOLA-PS, and the University of Louisiana System. Deadline to apply in main round is January 19, 2024. To apply, visit enrollnolaps.com or www.hynesschool.com.
