International School of Louisiana Teacher given API Teacher Award

International School of Louisiana (ISL) Teacher Given the American Petroleum Institute – Delta Chapter Teacher Award
Karen Marshall, a Science Curriculum Coordinator/Coach and 8th Grade ScienceTeacher at the International School of Louisiana (ISL) Uptown has received the American Petroleum Institute – Delta Chapter Teacher Award for Spring 2020.  Ms. Marshall received the highest honor, the Chairman Award, and a $500 prize.
“ISL nominated Ms. Marshal because she exemplifies what an outstanding teacher should be,” said ISL Head of School Melanie Tennyson. “We are so proud of her many accomplishments and this award is well-deserved. Congratulations!”

The Delta Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute, a non-profit organization headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, annually recognizes teachers in several parishes in the metropolitan area.The Teaching Excellence Award Program was established in 1987 by the API-Delta Chapter to pay tribute to and reinforce outstanding teaching in K-12 schools.  
The selection criteria includes commitment to teaching, resourcefulness, professional involvement and community service. During the academic year nominations are submitted by administrators in public and private schools in area parishes. Teacher applications are reviewed by a Committee of API members.
