Date: March 8th, 2024

Four students advance to Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (GNOSEF)

The International School of Louisiana (ISL) recently held its Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (GNOSEF) Middle School Award Presentation at ISL’s  Uptown Campus.

In early February, nearly 200 International School of Louisiana (ISL) 7th and 8th grade students completed science fair projects for ISL’s school-wide Science Fair.  Of these, 36 projects were selected for the ISL school-wide Science and Engineering Fair, with seven students being selected as winners and nominated to advance to the regional science fair, the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (GNOSEF).

The seven students selected to participate in the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (GNOSEF) in late February were: Cameron Adams, Caiden J. Barrow, Debora Castillo, Isabel Dalbom, José Herrera , Avery Kostrzewa, and Randy Rodriguez.

ISL hosted an awards ceremony on March 4 to honor these seven students and announce the regional results from the GNOSEF, and the students advancing to the state-wide Louisiana Science and Engineering Fair at Louisiana State University (LSU) in March 2024. José Herrera was the 1st place overall winner of ISL’s school-wide Science and Engineering Fair and a winner at the GNOSEF. He was recognized with a place on the ISL Science Fair Winners’ plaque and received a personalized ISL lab coat. Three other ISL students won awards at the GNOSEF: Cameron Adams, Debora Castillo, and Avery Kostrzewa. All four students will advance to the state-wide Louisiana Science and Engineering Fair at LSU at the end of March.

GNOSEF also awarded ISL teacher Anna Haddow (7th Grade Science Teacher and Middle School Science Lead) the Star Teacher Award for Middle School Mentorship.
