KENNER DISCOVERY HEALTH SCIENCES ACADEMY SENIOR

MARYM ABDALAAL EARNS POSSE SCHOLARSHIP

Congratulations to Marym Abdalaal, a Kenner Discovery senior awarded the prestigious Posse Foundation Scholarship to attend Texas A&M University. The scholarship will cover four full years of tuition.  Texas A&M is Marym’s first choice university.

Marym began her academic career with Kenner Discovery as a Sophomore in 2021. She has received several HEART awards throughout her time as a Kenner Discovery student. Marym is active in the Key Club, Student Council, National Honors Society, and Science Olympiad. She has also participated in the NASA partnership program, GLOBE, the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment Program.

The Posse Foundation is an organization that identifies, recruits, and trains student leaders from local high schools to form multicultural teams. The Posse program spans four years and is designed to ensure scholars’ success by supporting them with competitive internships and other prestigious awards.

Marym went through several interviews during the Posse process and completed the “Posse’s Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP),” a unique evaluation method that identifies young leaders with great potential. This process includes group and individual interviews with Posse Staff, College Partners, and Administrators. Through this process, Marym successfully earned her Posse Scholarship and, as a result, was awarded the opportunity to attend Texas A&M University.

She is one of 3 Kenner Discovery students awarded a Posse Scholarship over the past four years.
