Lusher Graduation & Senior Stroll to be held May 22-23

Date: May 21st, 2021
Lusher Charter School to Hold In-person Graduation Ceremony on May 22 at UNO Arena for Class of 2021
“Senior Stroll” neighborhood automobile caravan will be May 23

Lusher Charter School will hold two graduation events to honor its Class of 2021 graduating seniors:

Saturday, May 22, 6pm: Lusher Graduation at UNO Lakefront Arena
This will be a traditional cap and gown graduation ceremony with Commencement Speaker Adam Sivia, the Lusher coach who was involved in a hit and run, losing his legs, and has been an inspiration on his journey to recovery.

Sunday, May 23, 1-3 pm: Lusher “Senior Stroll” through the Carrollton neighborhood.
(Route attached and HERE) The “Senior Stroll” automobile caravan will be throughout the Lusher neighborhood, beginning at Fern and S. Claiborne and ending at Lusher High School on Freret.  Due to COVID social distancing last year, Lusher was unable to hold a traditional graduation ceremony, so they reimagined the tradition and offered graduates a unique commencement ceremony with the “Senior Stroll.” This year it is back by popular demand and will be an ongoing Lusher tradition. Lusher graduates will get in their vehicles, decorated to the nines, and “stroll” through the streets of New Orleans, celebrating with members of the entire K-12 Lusher community.  The caravan will follow a specified route and families, staff and students will decorate their homes and cheer on the Class of 2021 as the graduates pass more than 250 Lusher homes, the Willow Campus, and the Freret Campus.

If the media would like to cover this event, the on-site contact will be Dr. Steven Corbett, (614) 397-4452.  Please call for updates on location of caravan and times of events.
