New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School “Sci High” to Hold 1st Night Out Against Crime

Event will include Wild Tchoupitoulas Indians, King & Queen of Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club, and Sci High Jazz Ensemble, Cheerleaders, Dance Team, Flag Team and Drumline 

WHAT:      New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School “Sci High” will hold its 1st Night Out Against Crime event to raise crime prevention awareness.  Guests include the City of New Orleans Mayor’s Office, New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), and New Orleans Fire Department. LSU Health and Ochsner Health System will be on site to administer free COVID tests and blood pressure checks.

The Wild Tchoupitoulas Indians and King & Queen of Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club will entertain the crowd with additional performances by the Sci High Jazz Ensemble, Sci High Cheerleaders, Sci-Sations Dance Team, Twirling Nautilettes flag team, and the Sci High Drumline.

The event is free and open to the public.

WHY:         The National Night Out Against Crime in New Orleans is a community-wide event to raise crime prevention awareness, reduce crime and increase the support of local, state and federal law enforcement. It began over 30 years ago with NOPD officer Kelly Marrione.

Sci High offers students cutting-edge and industry-focused STEM electives and recently moved to a new, $35 million state-of-the-art campus in the biomedical corridor in Mid-City.  Students have access to Advanced Placement(AP) classes, paid summer internships, and robotics courses. Sci High features small class sizes in an encouraging, respectful atmosphere in an academically rigorous public school setting. Sci High dedicates many resources to supporting the whole child, through counseling support, a health clinic, tutoring and enrichment programs, and student-centered initiatives and training.
