WHY: ISL French immersion students learn core academic subjects in French, with Kindergartners speaking French after only a few months of learning. They learn a second language naturally through everyday conversation and classroom instruction. Over 75% of students enter ISL at Kindergarten from English- speaking homes and leave the 8th grade as bilingual speakers, sometimes trilingual. ISL offers a full immersion experience in French or Spanish (Kindergarten through 8th grade), as well as Mandarin Chinese in middle school
International School of Louisiana is the only tuition-free, multi-language immersion school in Louisiana. With its emphasis on international awareness, the celebration of diversity and community responsibility, ISL’s unique curriculum strengthens basic academic skills as it prepares students for success in today’s worldwide marketplace.
