International High School of New Orleans (IHSNO) to Hold Hispanic Heritage Celebration Honoring Latin American Countries, Featuring Performance by Ecuadorian-born Jose Torres TamaStudents will be collecting canned goods for donation to Hispanic-serving charity organizations across NOLA metroWhat: The International High School of New Orleans (IHSNO) students will hold a special Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with extraordinary guest Ecuadorian-born “Mestizo” of Quechua indigenous descent and performance artist, Jose Torres Tama.  Where:      International High School of New Orleans727 Carondelet St., New Orleans, LA 70130 (Media parking available in the school’s parking lot on Baronne) When:         Friday, September 29 from 2:10 – 3:30 pm IHSNO’s Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration is an elaborate assembly of students, faculty and school staff to honor Hispanic culture. Students will focus on culture and traditions from Caribbean, South American and Central American areas and dress in their countries’ colors.Students will be collecting canned goods for donation to Hispanic-serving charity organizations across NOLA metro. The celebration will feature a performance by Jose Torres Tama, an Ecuadorian-born “Mestizo” of Quechua indigenous descent. He is a published playwright and poet, journalist and photographer, renegade scholar and arts educator, visual and performance artist, and founder and Artistic Director of ArteFuturo Productions in New Orleans, the only producing entity of socially conscious Latin American theater events and performance art in the Crescent City. In 2021, he was nominated for a prestigious Herb Alpert Award for the Arts in Theatre, and has been previously nominated for a United States Artists Fellowship.This is a school event and not open to the public.  The media are invited to attend. ###About International High School of New Orleans (IHSNO)
