Tomorrow: Morris Jeff Community School 1st Graders Hold Awareness March on Campus

MORRIS JEFF COMMUNITY SCHOOL 1st GRADERS TO HOLD AWARENESS MARCH IN SUPPORT OF SOCIAL ISSUES

Students to march around campus with signs related to issues they feel passionate about

WHAT: As part of its International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), Morris Jeff Community School first graders will hold a Social Awareness March.  This event is a culmination of their first IB unit “Who We Are” and first graders have developed signs related to issues they feel passionately about. The students will share their signs in a march around the Lopez Campus. All MJCS students will attend in support of the first graders and their introduction to social awareness.

WHY: Morris Jeff Community School’s IB Primary Years Programme marks the start of a lifelong journey that develops caring and culturally aware children aged 3 – 12 to become active participants in their own learning. Morris Jeff Community School is the only Louisiana school to offer all 3 International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes – Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma (DP). The PYP and MYP build academic, social and learning skills in students to prepare them for the challenge of the IB Diploma.  Morris Jeff juniors and seniors can pursue the full IB Diploma. Research shows that students with IB diplomas graduate earlier than their peers and maintain higher GPAs than non-IB students.
